Collecting vintage paper, postcards and ribbon has been something I have done since I was a child. The Christmas cards I received from family were dimensional and die cut or mechanical. The same is true for the old Advent Calendars (around the Holidays I will feature some of my oldest ones–they are safely packed away now)
I love vintage paper (books, cards, etc), postcards and ribbon. Why? when traveling it was easy to transport home, the colors and detail are simply amazing and they are wonderful to decorate with! Each holiday is a chance to decorate with them and enjoy them. Also, many as you know, turned into wonderful rug hooking patterns!
Right now Spring and Easter is out and yes, I do a large tree with the seasons mainly using paper as well as a “half” tree that hangs on the door. Right now they are fun and colorful!
So how do I store the paper–I have a draftsman’s box for a lot of my postcards and I also purchase vintage postcard books on Etsy or Ebay and fill them to keep them safe.
Vintage paper or reproduction paper is not that expensive, feels festive and is easy to store. . .next up will be the Patriotic Holidays!
Have fun and hope you start collecting as well. . .

Tucked in the big tree. . .

These smaller trees are perfect for holding holiday cards. . .

Great part is that is the original postcard that created the pattern, Jack & Jill. Plus at night the tree lights up with a warm glow. Here is the link to see the pattern! https://wcushing.com/?s=jack+and+jill&post_type=product
Not just postcards, but cards as well. They add whimsy and fun when tucked in quiet places

Here is the original postcard Spring Dance and just goes with this special corner! Link to the Spring Dance pattern https://wcushing.com/product/the-spring-dance-23-x-32/

I love to tuck postcards in displays–this hunt scene postcard is from where we lived in NJ

Ribbons, since childhood I have saved ribbons. The prettier the better and even by themselves in a glass pitcher they are beautiful! A simple ribbon adds so much!
With the invention of gift bags, ribbons are not as easily collected at holidays!
